The Chocolate & Wine benefit will feature beer, wine, savories and sweets. The wildly popular Balloon Pop will also be held, along with a Silent Auction featuring popular treasures and services. All proceeds of the event will benefit MPL. The Monterey Public Library is the state’s first public library, and was named the Monterey Weekly’s Best Public Library in Monterey County. Library services are seen as integral to the quality of life in the community and offers access to the library’s collections, computers, California History Room, and other services.
The first in-person benefit event since the COVID-19 pandemic kept the annual event from happening in 2020, 2021 and 2022. The main fundraiser for Friends & Foundation, join the event and come together as a community, while fundraising for the important MPL programs and services.
During its physical closure, the Library served over 200 patrons a day and circulated 115,814 items through Sidewalk Service – providing a lifeline to information, educational materials, and entertainment. Volunteers logged 4,000 hours shelving materials and pulling holds to help keep this vital service running.
