Situated in a three-story landmark building, this captivating art museum is located in the heart of Old Monterey across from historic Colton Hall. Discover eight galleries of American and early California painting and photography. The Monterey Museum of Art also features a sculpture garden and gift shop. You'll also find visiting exhibits from around the world, and a full roster of educational programs and special events.

  • What can I see at the art museum?

    Tour eight galleries of American and early California paintings, photography and contemporary art. You can also visit the art reference library and the gift shop stocked with unique cards, jewelry and books.
  • Can I take photos at the museum?

    Still photos of the permanent collection galleries are permitted, as long as the photos are for personal use. Flash, tripods and video cameras are prohibited, and you cannot take photos of any visiting exhibitions.
